After playing the US OPEN qualifier I traveled down to the stunning Evian course in France for the Evian Master qualifier the 31st May and 1st of June. I played here last year as well and struggled to get around this though course, but this year I was looking forward to the challenge on this Major course!! There are 68 players battling it out for only 2 spots.
I had some good preparations doing a lot of short game and getting a better feeling of my swing after losing that a bit after my back injury.
The 1st day I managed to shoot 69(-2) to take T-1 together with Amy Boulden. Even though my game didn’t felt that good I played very smart and put the ball in the right places and with a nice birdie on the long 18th. After my round I worked really hard on my swing and shot game getting ready for the 2nd round.
Playing in the last group I was really focussed to be in the top 2 and qualify. I started a bit rusty the front 9 but managed to be -1 after 12 holes and leading the tournament. At the par 5 13rd I hit a poor second shot into the green and made a bogey. On 16, 17 and 18 I also hit a poor iron shot into the green and my short game not being sharp enough I didn’t managed to get up en downs and unfortunately I ended 1 shot outside the top 2 finishing 3rd and with that no Evian ticket where I obviously was very disappointed about losing it on the last few holes.
Time to evaluate and learn of it although it feels very bitter right now…
