With great caddy girl my 1st win 2016.
Victory in Belgium -12!
From 14 till 16 July I played at the beautiful Royal Waterloo golf. I’ve played the course once before but that was when I was really young so I didn’t had that much advantage of it. The tournament was part of the LETAS (the Ladies European Tour Access Series), for me this tournament fitted great in my season because there where not that many LET events.
I played the tournament in preparations for the Scottish Open next week. I had to hit draws of the tee (which I struggled a little bit with the last period) and into the green take one club more and grip it down (to hit lower spin shots, which I need into the wind next week). The first 2 rounds I shot consecutive 69(-3) to stand at -6 going into the last round, 2 shot behind leaders Daisy and Charlotte.
Going into the final day I was really confident about my game and was looking forward to play! In the final round I got of to a great start being -3 after the turn but still trailing by 2 shots.. I kept my head cool and focussed on hitting good shots. Than the leaders made some mistakes and suddenly I really was in contention. The last 3 holes being 3 par-5’s I could make some advantage of. And with 3 great birdies to finish I claimed my first tournament victory of 2016 by 3 shots at -12!!
Offcourse I’m really happy and I want to thank all my coaches and partners for believing in me and their support! Now, I’m on my way home (it’s a short drive from Waterloo to Arnhem) to repack my bags for Scotland next week!!
I played well on Royal Waterloo Golf.
